Chapter:
– a main division of a book, typically with a number or title
– a period of time or an episode in a person’s life, a nation’s history, etc.
– governing body of a religious community, especially a cathedral or a knightly order
– a local branch of a society
I found the definitions of “chapter” listed above through the Microsoft Bing web search engine. As I reviewed them, I noticed that they share one thing in common, namely, each highlights the reality that it represents a part of something, not the whole.
The reality that each represents a part of a whole and not the whole, seems like an important truth to remember as we navigate seasons of life. We live our lives in chapters but sometimes we forget this truth.
Especially when chapters are difficult, we can convince ourselves that what is, is all that will ever be. But chapters end. God’s grace remains sufficient in every chapter. His promises are sure. He is with you in every chapter, and He can be trusted.
