I dislike falling in my dreams and even more so in real life. Why? Perhaps because falling suggests a lack or loss of control and I do not know always what caused my fall. In addition, there is no guarantee that how I fall will be pretty. Pride.
“Pride goes before a fall,” admonishes the old saying and I know personally that it is true. There, however, is a message which is even older than the “Pride…” saying – “Good people might fall again and again, but they always get up.” (Proverbs 24:16, ERV). I dislike falling but, thankfully, I do not have to pick myself up by my boot-straps or any other human means. All I need is a prayer, “Father, help me.”
The words of a well known commercial, “I have fallen and I can’t get up,” can symbolize a cry of despair, even hopelessness, if there is no one listening. But for children of God, for me, it is impossible to cry for help to God and not receive it. I can count on Him to help me up, dust me off, heal broken bones and set me on my feet again.
I can so agree with this one. Thank you for reminding me how much he heals.
Thanks, Pattyann. How amazing it is that He heals all wounds, even the self-inflicted ones. Blessings to you.
Nice writing.
Thank you. I do appreciate your words of encouragement.
