Five Minute Friday (on Saturday): Learn

I am joining Kate Motaung and a group of courageous writers (on Saturday) for Five Minute Friday. The prompt is “Learn.” To learn more about Five Minute Friday (and perhaps join us?) click here.

The phrase, “Learn of Me,” was the first thing that came to mind in response to the prompt, “Learn.”  I thought of this instruction from the Teacher, “Learn of Me,” and I thought of the promise, “The people who know their God will be strong.” He cannot be fully known, but the more I learn of Him the more intimately I will know Him and be transformed into His image, which Romans 8:29 tells us has been His plan all along.

The phrase “Learn of Me,” is found in Matthew 11:29, and it is also translated, “Learn from Me.” There is no end to what we can learn from our Teacher. He is wisdom itself and He is all knowing. Oh, yes, we should desire fervently to learn of Him and learn from Him.  How great it is that the same promise holds when we learn of Him and learn from Him, “We will find rest for our souls.”  There is none of us who have not felt bone crushing weariness at some point in our lives.  Let us accept His invitation immediately.

Reasons to Praise: Day 4 – Learn

“Come to Me,” the Teacher said.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

And which of us has not been caught up in seemingly endless, and too often fruitless labor?

“Come to Me,” the Teacher continues to say.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest.”

He continues, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me.”

Join yourself to Me and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,

Come to Me. Join yourself to me. Enter into the most intimate of relationships with Me.

Come to Me. Attach yourself to Me. Learn from Me.

Not just about Me.

Learn from Me. I am wisdom.

Everything you will ever need to learn to experience life as I desire you to, you will and must learn from Me.

And in your learning, you will receive from Me the rest your soul longs for.

But first you must come. Yes with your burdens and cares.

Weaknesses and failures.

Disappointment and regrets.

Come to Me. Attach yourself to Me. Learn from me. Lay aside the wisdom of this world.

Learn from Me and I will give you rest.

Prayer: Father, You promise and provide rest. Yet another reason to praise You.
