“Pop quiz.” These are two words guaranteed to raise the anxiety level of students who typically wait until the last minute to prepare for an exam. These are the students who “pull all nighters” and try to “cram” weeks worth of lecture notes and chapters of material into a several hours of study time.
On the other hand, for the student who has made it a practice to study throughout the semester, the one who reviews notes regularly, and has developed good study habits overall, the words, “pop quiz” may not have them turning cartwheels and shouting “Yes!” but they will not have the anxiety spikes of the student who has not been studying.
And I think of the unexpected tests that can come as part of our journey here on earth. And I am reminded again of the importance of regular study of the Word of God. It is His Word that gives us the direction and encouragement and strength we need to pass the tests that come our way.
We need to study His word, so that we can hide in in our hearts. Our hearts, one online resource states, is the part of our being where we desire, deliberate and decide. We need His Word there in order to make the decisions that honor Him and produces the lifestyle that gives Him glory. Let us study well.
