The Post-it. Also known as a sticky note. Its original color was yellow but it has been available in various colors and several sizes for a number of years. Its primary use is to write notes which we temporarily attach to books, documents, lunch bags, the dashboard of our cars, mirrors, and various surfaces.
The content of the notes can vary from instructions to a shopping list to reminders and words of love. For the most part, these notes are unlikely to be kept for a long time intentionally and moved to multiple surfaces. The reason being, although the nature of the post-it allows it be removed from one surface and re-adhered to another, the words of the note are usually specific to a context.
But this is not so of the words of our Father. Jesus noted in John 6:33, “It is the Spirit who give life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life.” We can write ourselves spiritual sticky notes that are transferable across situations. Notes made up of His words such as “I will never leave you or forsake you.” “I have a good plan for your life.” “I love you with an everlasting love.” These words are applicable across every season of life.
