Five Minute Friday: Five

I love words and five of my favorite words are found in two passages of Scripture: Ephesians 1:3-10 and Psalm 121:3-5. The words are accepted, chosen, redeemed, forgiven, and kept.

Accepted. We have all know rejection, whether it was on the playground during recess, or in our neighborhoods, the hellish arena that high school can be at times, or in our adulthood. We have all know rejection. Oh, how sweet it is to know that the Eternal God, the Everlasting Father, Love itself, has accepted us without reservation in the Beloved. Accepted.

We are also chosen. Chosen in Christ Jesus to be His before the Foundation of the world. And He redeemed us at a cost that can never be comprehended only accepted as truth. And He has forgiven us and has promised to always forgive us whenever we confess our sins to Him. Sometimes we struggle to forgive ourselves but let us not insult Him by refusing to accept the grace and pardon He so freely offers.

And finally, we are kept. Psalm 121 tells us that The Lord is our Keeper and He never slumbers or sleeps. Regardless of what comes our way or even what we walk into through disobedience or lack of knowledge, in every season He keeps us and brings us out. Five of my favorite words: Accepted. Chosen. Redeemed. Forgiven and Kept.
