Present

To give or bestow formally

Present

To make (something) available to be used or considered

Present

To make a gift to

“Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness

Is His firm command, by His Spirit, through the apostle Paul

“Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness”

Do not make your members, components of your body, any part of who you are, available to be used for unrighteous purposes

Instead

“Present yourself to God”

Make yourself and all who you are available to be used by God  for His purpose

Make a gift of all you are to Him

He gives us the privilege of giving ourselves and all we have to Him

Although, as noted by the hymn writer, William W. How,

We give thee but thine own

Whate’er the gift may be

For all we have is thine alone

A trust, O Lord from thee

 STOP

There are days and seasons when asked, “Have you fully surrendered your life to God? Is Jesus both Savior and Lord?” I feel able to respond with a confident, “Yes.” There are other days and seasons, however, when I am not sure, and the best response I can give is, “I hope so,” or, “I want to be.” How thankful I am that full surrender, because it begins with a decision which I then live out, moment by moment with His enabling, can occur at any time. Such as right now. No special location or physical posture needed. Only a yielding.

Notes: Definitions of “Present” are from merriam-webster.com. The name of the hymn by William How is, “We Give Thee but Thine Own;” the lyrics can be found here.
