Five Minute Friday: Green

Joining Kate Motaung and a group of courageous writers, for Five Minute Friday. Today’s prompt is, “Green.” To learn more about Five Minute Friday, click here.

Jealousy. Referred to in literature as the “green-eyed monster.” One thing I have consistently heard about jealousy is that insecurity is frequently the underlying cause.

Insecurity. The sense that we are not good enough, that we are less than. One dictionary defines insecurity or rather, being insecure as a deficiency in assurance; being buffeted by fear and anxiety. Thankfully, there is One who is with us always and repeatedly tells us to not fear because HE is there. To not be anxious but pray about everything and promises that His peace which passes all understanding will guard our heart and minds.

But what about the perception that we are not good enough, less than? The same One who tells us not to fear has also blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Chose us in Him before the foundation of the world. Predestined us to adoption as His children simply because doing so was He wanted to do.

Toss that green-eyed monster out, with the Father’s help, and rejoice in who you are in Him and all He has purposed for you.

  1. E,
Enjoyed your post on the root of the green eyed monster. Our position in Christ is always the ultimate self-esteem booster because it is not about us.
    Thanks for writing.
    Cheers, from your 5minfri neighbor,
    Leah

  2. “Our position in Christ is always the ultimate self-esteem booster because it is not about us.” Your words are laden with truth. Thanks for reading my post and taking the time to comment. Blessings.

  3. This subject is so important today in our society, low self-esteem is as much of an epidemic as obesity in our culture. Thank you for writing about this and sharing the good news of our hope in Jesus Christ.
    Keep rocking the 5minfri!
