Every industry has standards, that is, rules by which the quantity, weight, value, quality, etc, of a product or service, are measured and accepted or rejected. Usually, the industry falls under the purview of a federal department such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which interestingly has as its motto “Protecting and Promoting Your Health.” But I digress.
As individuals and families, we also have personal standards, that is, ideas about what is considered moral and acceptable as well as unacceptable behavior. Unfortunately, however, we can apply standards to ourselves and others that cannot be met by any human being. And when we cannot meet these impossible standards, we berate ourselves.
God too has standards that we cannot meet in our own human strength. Thankfully the Spotless Lamb, Jesus the Perfect One, met those standards for us and because He did we are accepted in Him, the Beloved, and have peace with God.
