Lent and Love

“Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. In Western Christianity, Ash Wednesday marks the first day, or the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included in the count).

Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ – His suffering and His sacrifice, His life, death, burial and resurrection.” *

I cannot think about Lent without thinking of His love for us. In recognition of the start of this sacred season, I am sharing a  hymn about His love, and an unequivocal statement.

Here is the statement:

“Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another.”(1 John 4:11, Amplified Bible)

* The information about Lent is a quote from the About Religion website.

  1. Beautiful music! May I sing on through eternity, as well….that has been my prayer, quite literally, since I was a very little girl….I’m so grateful for the gift of music, for the gift of song. Thank you for this post!
