Five Minute Friday: Wait

Joining Kate Motaung and a community of courageous writers for Five Minute Friday. The prompt is, “Wait.”

Expectation is inherent in the process of waiting. If I am waiting, it means that I am expecting something (or someone) to come my way.

Whether I am expecting good or bad is another story all together. It is true that sometimes we can become so discouraged by hard things that happen, especially when they seem to arrive one after the other, in rapid succession, hardly leaving us time, it appears, to catch our breath. Out of our discouragement can come the expectation of even more hard things happening. We wait for the proverbial shoe to drop.

During these seasons, we need our hope renewed and the primary source of our hope is our Father. He, in fact is our Hope. These are the times when we must immerse ourselves in His word. That is where we are reminded that His plans for us are for good, not for evil, regardless of what things look like. As the line from Amazing Grace states, “The Lord has promised good to us, His word our hope secures.” Let us wait on Him, with His enabling, for as long as it takes. He is faithful.

“My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.” (Psalm 62:5, Amplified)
