I am thinking of distance and I am thinking of time.
“Long distance” indicates things that are separated by many miles. Point A to Point B.
“A long time,” relates to the duration of an event or the waiting period for something desired to occur.
I am thinking too that the idea of length, how long something is or how long it takes, involves some common agreement of what that constitutes; however, I am also thinking that there is a subjective element to this measurement. For example, to toddlers walking from a table to where Mom or Dad is kneeling calling them to come, a few feet may seem like a mile. In comparison, just a few years later that distance is viewed differently.
I am thinking also of the verses in the Bible that remind us that God’s view of time is different than ours. And what may seem to be taking too long to us may not seem the same from His view point.
Father, thank you that you inhabit eternity but walk with us through every moment of time and every step of every journey.
