Reasons to Praise: Day 11 – Teach

I am thinking of Moses

Of the circumstances of his birth

Of how his mother saw that he was a beautiful child

And hid him until she could hide him no more

Then she made a basket and placed him in the river

And of how his sister watched over him

I am thinking of Moses

And how Pharaoh’s daughter drew him out of the water

And named him Moses

And raised Him as a prince of Egypt

I am thinking of his temper

And his murder of an Egyptian task master

And his flight into the desert

And of how God revealed Himself to him there

I am thinking of how God called Him

And how he argued with God

Telling the One who made the mouth and the tongue

That he could not speak

How he persisted in arguing

Even after his rod became a serpent

And his hand became leprous then whole again

Even after God promised that He would

teach him what to say

And would teach him and Aaron what to do

How this same Moses did lead the children out of Egypt

And how God spoke to him as a man spoke with his friend

And how after he had witnessed God do so many miracles

Asked, “If you are pleased with me, teach your ways.”

And how the psalmist testified hundreds of years later

“Moses knew God’s ways; the children of Israel knew His acts.”

I am thinking of Moses and how God answered his prayer and taught Him his ways

And how He will do the same for us, if we ask

“Teach me your ways.”
