View –” the ability to see something from a particular place.”
The Old Testament tells the story of God’s process of choosing the second king of Israel, David. He sent Samuel, the prophet, to the house of Jesse. Jesse had all of his sons pass before Samuel. All his sons, except David that is.
At one point, Samuel was looking at Eliab and he must have been struck by his appearance because God told him clearly, “Don’t look at how handsome Eliab is or how tall he is, because I have not chosen Him.” And here is the kicker, ”God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the LORD looks at the heart.” His view, His ability to see something, is different from ours.
Another verse tells us that He sees the end from the beginning. We all need His perspective. No, we cannot see the end from the beginning or even see into someone’s heart, but we can learn to value what He values, to know that there is always more to any situation and every person than we can see. The fact that His perspective is different from ours is another reason to praise.
